Frequently asked
How do I compare two contracts online?
Upload Document A and Document B, and our contract comparison tool reads both documents and highlights every difference between them — added clauses, removed clauses and amended wording — ranked by severity. There's no need to read line by line: in seconds you get a clean, plain-English summary of exactly what changed between the two contract versions. Your first contract comparison is free, with no card required.
Can I really compare two contracts for free?
Yes — your first full comparison is completely free, no card and no trial sign-up tricks. You upload both documents and get the entire report, including the Critical Issues and Warnings breakdown and the PDF export. After your free comparison, a single affordable monthly subscription covers unlimited contract comparisons. See Pricing for details.
Is this a contract redline or document compare tool?
It does everything a traditional redline or "compare documents" feature does — it shows every difference between two versions of an agreement — but it goes further. Instead of just marking text as inserted or deleted like a Word document compare, it interprets each change and tells you whether it's a Critical Issue (something that materially shifts risk, money or obligations) or a lower-priority Warning. So you're not just seeing what changed, you're seeing what matters.
Can I compare a PDF contract against a Word document?
Yes. You can compare across formats — a signed PDF against a Word (DOCX) draft, an Excel rate card against a CSV, or plain text pasted straight in. The formats don't need to match. Supported file types include PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV and plain text. Legacy .doc files should be saved as .docx first.
What kinds of contracts can I compare?
Any two text-based agreements: NDAs, employment contracts, service agreements, SaaS and software licences, supplier and vendor contracts, leases and rental agreements, terms and conditions, MSAs, SOWs, loan agreements and more. If you have an old version and a new version — or two competing drafts — the tool will compare the contracts clause by clause and surface the differences.
How accurate is the comparison? Can I trust it over a lawyer?
The engine is extremely thorough at catching differences between two documents — far more consistent than a tired human eye scanning dense legal language. That said, it's designed as a fast first-pass contract review, not a replacement for legal advice. For anything high-stakes, use the report to focus your lawyer's time on the clauses that actually changed, rather than paying them to re-read the whole agreement from scratch.
Is my contract data safe?
Yes. Files are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, processed in memory, and never written to disk or a database. Your documents are never stored, never reviewed by a human, and never used to train any algorithm. The text exists only for the few seconds it takes to run the comparison, then it's discarded. See our Security & Privacy page for the full picture.
What happens to my documents after I upload them?
Nothing — they're never saved. We deliberately store no contract files and no contract text. There is no copy to leak, subpoena or lose. You get your comparison report, and the underlying documents simply cease to exist on our side.
How long does a contract comparison take?
Seconds. A manual side-by-side review of two contracts can take a careful reader an hour or more; our engine reads both documents and returns a ranked report of every material difference in well under a minute — then lets you export it as a PDF to share with your team or counsel.
How much does it cost after the free comparison?
One straightforward monthly subscription covers unlimited comparisons — ideal if you review contracts regularly. There are no per-document fees and you can cancel anytime from your account. But you can run your first comparison free before deciding. See Pricing.

Compare contracts online without missing a single clause
Whether you're reviewing a renewal, checking a counter-party's edits, or lining up two competing drafts, manually comparing contracts is slow, tiring and easy to get wrong. A quietly removed liability cap, a payment term shortened from 30 days to 14, an indemnity that crept in on page nine — these are the changes that cost real money, and they're exactly the ones a human eye glosses over at the end of a long document. Compare Contracts Online is a contract comparison tool built to catch them all, instantly and online, with your first comparison free.
What "compare contracts" really means here
A basic document compare just marks text as inserted or deleted. Our tool goes further: it performs a true clause-by-clause contract comparison, then interprets each difference and ranks it. You don't get a wall of tracked changes — you get a prioritised report that separates the Critical Issues that shift risk, money or obligations from the lower-stakes Warnings. It's redline, document comparison and a first-pass legal review rolled into one.
Who uses it to compare two contracts
- Business owners & founders checking what a vendor changed before signing a renewal.
- Procurement & operations teams comparing supplier agreements and rate cards side by side.
- Freelancers & contractors spotting risky clauses in client service agreements.
- Landlords & tenants comparing two versions of a lease or rental agreement.
- Legal & paralegal teams running a fast first pass so billable time goes to judgment calls, not proofreading.
Contracts you can compare
Because the tool reads the text rather than a fixed template, you can compare almost any two text-based agreements: NDAs and confidentiality agreements, employment contracts and offer letters, SaaS and software licences, master service agreements (MSAs) and statements of work (SOWs), supplier and vendor contracts, leases and tenancy agreements, loan and finance agreements, and website terms and conditions. Old version against new version, or one draft against another — if it's a contract, you can compare it.
Compare contracts online, free to start
There's no software to install and nothing to learn. Upload Document A and Document B in your browser, let the engine compare the two contracts, and read your ranked report in seconds — then export it as a PDF. Your documents are never stored, never seen by a human, and never used to train any algorithm. The first comparison is genuinely free with no card required, so you can see exactly what's different before you decide to do anything else.
